Columbus 2, New York Red Bulls 0: Kenny Cooper and Javier Morales scored in the first half and the Crew wrapped up a first-round playoff series win.
Houston 2, Toronto FC 1: Will Bruin scored two goals and the Dynamo won in Toronto. Houston advanced 3-1 in the best-of-five series.
New England 1, Vancouver 0: Shalrie Joseph scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to lift the Revolution over the Whitecaps. New England will host Vancouver in the next round.
L.A. Galaxy 1, Real Salt Lake 0: Edson Buddle scored on a header in the 33rd minute, lifting the Galaxy to a victory that will send the Galaxy to the Western Conference semifinals.
Real Salt Lake will host San Jose in the next round. The teams split the regular-season series.
Tampa Bay 2, Vancouver Whitecaps 0: Sacha Kljestan and Djimi Traore scored, and Curtis Davies made five saves to help the Lightning advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
“We are very happy with the outcome and the way the game ended,” Tampa Bay coach Graham Yallop said. “Our ambitions still were not as big as this, but it’s the same for everybody, to win a trophy.”
The Lightning play Montreal in the next round. Tampa Bay and Montreal split the regular-season series, with each team winning a road game.
