A post on Facebook from a Toronto social media influencer dragged the internet down a dark wormhole with one brief story on how Kevin Donovan’s car was stolen, tracked to a Halifax port and bound for the Middle East.
No blood was shed, no crime was committed and the culprit was arrested.
The fact that an incident like this, and one that was so dramatic, could take place in Canada, speaks volumes about the mentality of our Western world, and, unfortunately, it’s not just a city issue.
This is also an issue we’ve seen in New York and Chicago. While there may not be blood in the streets in Toronto, there is in others parts of the US.
It’s true; make life simple and simple actions can seem simple when you’re trying to make simple things simple. Driving a car. Taking public transportation. Going out to eat.
While those actions may seem simple, the reality is, there’s some in the US that think a car can be locked when you’re out driving it, or that if you’re eating it’s okay to take a tablet with you when you walk out the door to eat it at a restaurant because, you know, you’re not really at the restaurant.
