Matt Smith is ‘House of the Dragon’s’ ‘agent of chaos.’ And he’s loving every minute of it.

With all the hype swirling around the new ABC show “House of the Dragons,” creator and star James “Jamie” Bell is getting a lot of attention in the entertainment community.
“This is very exciting for me,” Bell admitted to THR. “I didn’t realize that after ‘House of Cards’ I would be in this position. I had no idea. And I’m very grateful, because the work I’ve done as a writer has been amazing, but it’s also been difficult, because I’ve been traveling all these time zones and I’ve got to be home, and that’s exhausting.”
Still, Bell is at peace with all of that. He’s been a huge fan of House of Cards and has been following Bell’s career since he was a little boy. In fact, when Bell was asked why he thought it was important for an actor to be a voice in his genre, he just kept going.
“A voice in your genre. Yeah, that’s important. It is. When I was younger, if I would have seen a movie I thought was great, I would go see it first and see if it was good. And then I would be like, ‘This is amazing.’ When it becomes a part of your DNA because you love it, you don’t want to take it away.
“That’s how I feel about this show. I want to keep it alive. Jamie [Dornan], I’ve known him since ‘House of Cards,’ so that goes back a long ways, going back to when we were kids. I remember him very clearly. And I’m proud of him for doing ‘House of the Dragons.’ He’s doing a great job.
“It’s hard to explain because my writing is not mainstream. I put everything into this show. It’s not like anybody else. And I think, ‘Well, they are doing it for a profit, so they can make money off of it,’ which is not what we all want. We want to see these shows made for love, and it’s almost like trying to buy a baby. That’s how I feel about this show: I want to give it life and I want to help make it a success.”
But that doesn’t mean Bell won’t be watching for any potential conflicts.
